Peering services

Public peering, route servers and port connections at Vinters Connect, Maidstone.

Public peering

KENT-IX provides a shared Layer 2 peering fabric for networks to exchange IPv4 and IPv6 traffic in Maidstone. Members can establish bilateral BGP sessions or use the route servers for multilateral peering.

Peering takes place at Vinters Connect, Vinters Business Park. Transport to the facility and cross-connect arrangements are the member’s responsibility.

The peering LAN is for traffic exchange between members. It does not provide Internet transit or a default gateway.
How to connect

Route server service

Two route servers operate under AS218849. Members should establish a session with each server for redundancy. The route servers preserve the original next hop and do not insert their ASN into the AS path.

Routing filters use each member’s registered IRR as-set together with RPKI origin validation. Prefix limits are agreed during provisioning.
